Barbados golfer James Johnson lay 6th after the first day round of golf in Veracruz, Mexico. A solid score of 73, one over par leaves him 7 shots from the lead and 5 shots from the bronze medal. First day leader is José de Jesús RODRIGUEZ, Mexico who scored a 66, 6 under par during first days windy conditions.

Tournament favourite Camilio BENEDETTI, Columbia struggled on the first day with a 77, 5 over par and so did Dominican Republic golfer Ernesto VITIENES who shot 78, 6 over par. Vitienes was second in the 2014 CAGC tournament in August this year where Johnson ended up on 9th place.
