Even though non of the Bajan golfers made the cut, they come home with a massive amount of experience from this years tournament. Our local golfers welcome the opportunity that the Latin American Amateur Championship will bring to the region. Up to now the only real yearly test have been the Caribbean Amateur Golf Championship. The LAAC will provide a much needed second amateur major in the region and motivate the current and young coming golfers to train hard.
The lucky winner this year was Matias Dominguez, of Chile, who holed a short bogey putt on the 72nd hole to hold off Alejandro Tosti, of Argentina, by one stroke and capture the inaugural Latin America Amateur Championship on Sunday with an 11-under-par total of 277 on the 7,255-yard, par-72 Pilar Golf course.
