Johnson to led Barbados team

James Johnson will be leading Barbados’ Hoerman Cup team at this year’s Caribbean Amateur Golf Championships in the Turks and Caicos Islands from August 2 – 10.

The Hoerman Cup team is James Johnson, Sean Edey, Marcus Clarke, Simon Proverbs and Scott Foster. Johnson recently averaged two under par over the three days to win the 26th Beacon Insurance Barbados Open at Royal Westmoreland.

It was his fourth title in a row and eighth overall.
Barbados will be defending the Mid-Amateur (Ramon Baez Trophy) with a new team of Judd Cozier and Thomas Harris.

Former champions Ricky Skeete and Robert Piggott are back to compete in the Seniors (Francis & Steele-Perkins Cup) competition while Birchmore Griffith and Richie Alleyne will be teaming up for the Super Seniors (Higgs & Hill Trophy) event.

Griffith won the Super Seniors title at the recent Beacon Insurance Barbados Open.
Barbados will not be fielding a women’s team for the 53rd annual Caribbean Golf Association Amateur Championships.

Manager of the team is Trevor Tasker, who currently serves as Vice President of the Barbados Golf Association (BGA).
