DelCastilho wins Harris Paints golf

Businessman Tony DelCastilho is the overall winner of the Harris Paints Golf Classic.
DelCastilho can think about booking his passage for next year’s Trinidad and Tobago Open after winning a ticket and entry fee among his prizes in Sunday’s tournament at the Barbados Golf Club (BGC) course.
DelCastilho had an exemplary round on his home course to gather 42 Stableford points and win the first flight for players with handicaps between 10 and 24.
It was the best showing of the day.
Warren Bynoe was also in excellent form. He won the championship flight with 38 points and was also the top junior.
The competition was close in the re-scheduled Harris Paints Classic with Livy Webster chasing DelCastilho home to be second with 40 Stableford points.
Bynoe also won by two points from Shane Chesney as the field of 69 golfers was blessed with fine weather.
Collis “Mr. Golf” Lynch also had a productive day to be third in the championship flight with 35 points.
Birchmore Griffith, president of the Barbados Golf Association (BGA) and one of the principal organisers of the event, was upstaged in the Seniors category by former tennis player Tyrone Mapp.
Mapp defeated Griffith, a member of this year’s Barbados team at the Caribbean Amateur Golf Championsips (CAGC) in the Cayman Islands, with 37 points, winning on the countback.
The tournament was re-scheduled from the previous Sunday when inclement weather affected most sporting events. |
