Johnson, Thornton win Old Nine Scramble

They have played together many times but never won a competiton.
That was before teaming up for the Old Nine Scramble golf tournament last Sunday.

Peter Johnson and Charlie Thornton (57.5 points) won their first Barbados Golf Association (BGA) competition by a solitary point from Dawn Bispham and Alexander Jn. Pierre.

With an average handicap of 19.5 Thornton and Johnson played steady golf in ideal conditions to add a new achievement to their golfing outings.
BGA officials lauded the preparation of the greens and fairways, as did players. There were however several concerns about slow play.

While Bispham and Pierre narrowly placed second by half a point Carlsen Leacock and Livi Webster had to beat out four other teams on the countback for a winning 59 points.

So don’t be surprised to see Charlie Thornton and Peter Johnson in next month’s BGA tournament, looking for another shot at winner’s row.
