Alleyne’s short game shines

Orville Alleyne returned to his strengths, putting and chipping, to carry off the 2009 RBTT Classic golf tournament by two strokes.
He pulled back the years and produced the skill to win the Men’s championship flight and emergedthe overall winner with a Gross 142 over the two days at Durrants over the weekend.

Alleyne had the second-lowest score on nine holes of 33 on Saturday and won with scores of 72 and 70 – great stuff, in a record field of 105 players.
“The form is getting better. I came back to prove a point,” Alleyne said. “The short game, as it always has, was the best part of my game,” he added.

Consistent Dawn Bispham was second with a Gross 144 and Judd Cozier third with 145 shots. Bispham had scores of 36, 39, 35 and 34.

Emir Uzunovic was the Men’s First Flight winner, with 158 shots, Michael Haynes upstaged Ricky SKeete and Robert Piggott to win the Seniors title with 147 and Helen Foster was the women’s Gross champion (161 shots).

Haynes played solid golf with scores of 37, 39, 39 and the lowest score on nine holes for the tournament, 32.

Julia Stephenson won the women’s Net prize, Stephen Layne won the Nett prize among the nine and under handicap golfers, LIvi Webster was a popular Nett winner in the Men’s First Flight and John Phillips was the Nett winner in the Seniors category.

On the Stableford side of the RBTT Classic Kailash Pardasani and Brenda Phillips were the champions. Colombian Emeralds International and Digicel were the main supporting sponsors.
